Thom Waye – Managing Partner Prior to forming Sigma, Mr. Waye was a Partner and Managing Director at ComVest Venture Partners, L.P. In that capacity, Mr. Waye was primarily responsible for originating and structuring the fund's Micro Cap, operating company investments. Before joining ComVest, Mr. Waye was with AIG Capital Partners, a $10+ billion private equity group, responsible for fundraising and fund development. In addition, Mr. Waye previously led Motorola's and Unisys' New York based Financial Services sales and marketing efforts. He holds an MBA in Accounting and Finance from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business and a BS in Management Information Systems and Marketing from Syracuse University.
Maydan Rothblum – Principal Prior to joining Sigma, Mr. Rothblum held Associate level positions at Apax Partners, Zacks Investment Research, and Booz, Allen & Hamilton where he gained experience in private equity investing, equity research and business consulting, both nationally and internationally. Mr. Rothblum had earlier experience at Sunrise Projects, managing private placement engagements for Israeli high tech companies. In addition, he served as an Engineer in the Israeli Defense Force (IDF). Mr. Rothblum holds an MBA in Finance and International Business from Columbia Business School and a BS in Industrial Engineering and Management from the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology.
Marcelo Martins – Vice President, Axiom Capital Management+ Prior to joining Axiom Capital Management, Mr. Martins was Senior Vice President and Co-Founder of Spring Wireless, a wireless services venture backed by Softbank, Intel Capital and Ericsson. Under that capacity, Mr. Martins structured and led the capital raising process, hired the management team and formulated the business strategy. He also held Associate positions at GP Capital Management and at Goldman Sachs. Mr. Martins had earlier international experience as a project manager at Asea Brown Boveri. Mr. Martins received an MBA from Harvard Business School and holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from Karlsruhe University (Germany) and UNICAMP (Brazil), where he graduated first in his class.
Alan Shum - Analyst Prior to joining Sigma, Mr. Shum interned at Feldman Weinstein LLP, where he worked in the firm’s reverse merger practice. He also worked at NYPR and The Horn Group, where he conducted media outreach, sourced media opportunities and coordinated public relations events. Mr. Shum has a BS in Finance and Marketing from NYU’s Leonard N. Stern School of Business.
Gary Marks - CFO Prior to joining Sigma, Mr. Marks was a Partner at Rubenstein Shenker Zacarese & Marks LLP, a New York-based certified public accounting firm. He has been a certified public accountant for 25 years and a Partner at various CPA firms for the past 12 years. Prior to public practice, Mr. Marks held management positions with “The Body Shop” retail chain and served as CFO of “The Female Athlete”, a web-based retail forum. Mr. Marks specializes in individual taxation and small business accounting. He is the treasurer of the Rockville Centre Chamber of Commerce and past treasurer of the Garden City Jewish Center. Mr. Marks holds a BS in accounting from the Rochester Institute of Technology and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the New York State Society of CPAs.
Christie Graffeo - Office Manager Prior to joining Sigma, Ms. Graffeo was an IT Administrative Support Specialist for Jabil Circuit where she was responsible for Hardware/Software management and general support. In addition, Ms. Graffeo previously worked for Eckerd Corporation’s HR Department and was Accounts Payable Manager for Westwood One Radio/Metro Networks. Ms. Graffeo holds an AS in Fashion Design & Marketing from the International Academy of Design & Technology.
+ Mr. Martins is a full time employee of Axiom Capital, which represents Sigma’s largest investor. Axiom has agreed to allocate a significant portion of Marcelo’s time to Sigma related activities.
